Stroke

A stroke occurs when either too much blood or too little blood disrupts blood flow to part of the brain. This deprives brain tissue of necessary oxygen and nutrients. Within minutes brain cells begin to die and the result is a loss of brain function. Stroke is a medical emergency. The faster stroke victims get medical attention, the better their chances are for recovery. Every second counts. Prompt medical treatment could be the difference between life and death. Stroke is a leading cause of death. It also causes more serious long-term disabilities than any other disease.
